Encounters with Craft

This is about showing up without an agenda. I step into each craftsperson’s world and immerse myself in their process, paying attention to what wants to emerge rather than what I expect to find.

Through careful observation and curious questions, insights surface. Some affirm what I believe. Others challenge it entirely. Either way, they become points of clarity or seeds for contemplation.

This is not guided by a list of questions or predetermined outcomes. It is about excavating what already lives inside the subject; their relationship to their work, their way of being present, the wisdom embedded in their hands and choices.

The lens stays open to surprise, to contradiction, to discoveries I could never have planned for. Each encounter becomes an experiment in trusting the process over the plan, presence over preparation. Like the craftspeople I photograph, I am learning to follow what feels true in the moment rather than what I think should happen next.
